Anyone made any new year's resolutions?
I aim to dance more as I celebrate 60 years on the planet in 2022

^ sounds like a plan
This year we're going to move back to our home town of Bristol. We've been in Minehead for nearly 3 years and it's been fun, but we miss so much of where we come from. Also we've come to realise that we weren't fed up of the city, we just needed a break from a shit period in life which was peppered with deaths, illness, injuries and difficult family members (who have now 'moved on').
Other plans include finishing this place ready for sale, getting fitter and generally having a good time.

My lease on the shop is up early 2023, so I'm looking at other properties. Scarborough's great but if something comes up in Whitby, I shall have a look there as it has a great cultural vibe. Bought myself a nice second hand Mercedes, so going to explore Yorkshire in all its glory.

I changed jobs last April, from one which involved working unsocial hours and weekends to one with regular ( reduced ) hours, so looking forward to benefiting from this in the coming year by attending more gigs, and being more creative somehow. Hernia op at end of last year means I need to get back to my previous level of fitness.

Worry less and avoid Hospitals and get out more will do me for this one. And for the missus' health to hold up too.

I have a musician relative who runs singing classes for people with emotional issues, I'm trying to pluck up the courage to get involved with that. I feel like I'm running out of time to find any kind of contentment in this fcuked up world.

I feel for you Stu, about 5 years ago I had a full blown panic attack which started a bout of anxiety and depression which I struggled with for quite a while.
I'm sure you well know that one of the best things for your mental health is to get out there and get on with life, but it's a cruel fact that this can also be one of the hardest things to do too. If you can pluck up the courage to go and get involved with the course I'd thoroughly recommend it. I attended a cognitive therapy group for a while, I found it really helpful, and the unexpected and very best bit about it was the realisation that people from all walks of life, and age groups have similar problems and can find some comfort in not feeling so alone with their problems.
I wish you all the best mate and if you want to chat it over on here or by private message then feel free.
Cheers, DM.

I feel like I'm running out of time to find any kind of contentment in this fcuked up world. I get the contentment from from those old sub 3 minute songs, I myself am socially useless to the point of avoiding 90% of social interactions. I feel no real need to make a difference or leave a legacy of any kind, Just getting enjoyment from music books and football is good enough for me along with being there for my wife and kid. We need to find contentment from within, I have given up attempting the "bigger picture", I leave that to the young. Have a great 2022.

Yes, I'd echo this 100% Easy for us to say and harder to do when you're in a dark place but do try to do it Stu You have everything to gain Stuff that takes you out of yourself and that internal chatter can be so beneficial

You can't beat an old Merc Next time I'm up in your neck of the woods I'm straight into your shop be it in Scarborough or Whitby From my hazy memories of both places I'd agree that Whitby feels like a more fertile spot for your fine music emporium

I’d definitely swing by if you moved to Whitby, perhaps I could rinse you at the pirate golf on your lunch break also? Lol

There's a coffee shop across from me who do a great vegan latte. I love my shop but sometimes I think I'm stagnating a little, I've just got a fabulous lot of US/Europe garage punk but sales at the moment are confined to endless Phil Colllins, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac etc al. Pays the bills obviously but often I'd trade it for a single sale of an Adverts or Vin Garbutt album and the stimulating conversation that would go with it.
