Still annoyed to this day that just because a couple of knobheads were jealous of Brian Conolly and kicked him in the throat, which was the start of their decline.

I admired Steve
40 odd years hanging on to a gig after losing his platinum-barneted frontman showed incredible dedication
As a group they were always trying to escape the confines of their bubblegum hits - even the likes Coco, Poppa Joe, Little Willy and Wigwam Bam gave hints of the serious rockers trying to break free
It was even more obvious in Ballroom Blitz, Hellraiser and Teenage Rampage
They always seemed to want to be Deep Purple
When they did finally escape Chinnichap the world had moved on - though Germany always remained fiercely loyal to them
