This seems to the problem with this site.
Someone puts a tribute on for a person that's recently died and the above troll comes on to defend another one.
Differences of opinion are welcome but I personally see having an alternative opinion to the peculiar Londoncentric narrative that happens here as a healthy thingš

so you called him a mockney as a term of enderment ?
You drop in these unnecessary insults and then act all self righteous when you get called out on it .
Cant have it both ways .
whats with the troll stuff ?
or calling LE servile ?
Just be nice to people . Its not difficult is it ?

^As opposed to the 'mockney' cornerš¤£ If you are referring to me, i am born and bred Bermondsey boy (hence the Millwall support) and proud of it. Not an East Ender (thank God) so not a cockney really. Just your average South Londoner. Don't think anyone has ever pretended to be from South London, most folk hide it if they can.

Differences of opinion are welcome but I personally see having an alternative opinion to the peculiar Londoncentric narrative that happens here as a healthy thingš Don't think I've ever been referred to as a troll in the 20 years or so I've been on the Web. I enjoy your presence as you fill in a lot of blanks on the "hardcore" side of things which I have been interested in exploring more. I think a willingness to not take things too seriously is a necessity for all message board interactions and if you dish it out then you have to be prepared to take it as well. Different viewpoints are not attacks just opinions and we know what they say about opinions. I think Lord Emsworth is London as am I, but is anyone else? I don't know. It's impossible to deny London's importance in any discussion on music apart from "Merseybeat" purely because it's where the "business" was at the time although that sort of centralisation was never healthy and punk was one of the founding movements that encouraged the DIY aesthetic that sprung up all around the country and led to the importance of other areas. "Indie Pop" for example wasn't just Glasgow and Postcard records but it certainly was from there that big chunks of that sound emerged. Accepting that doesn't mean you are pushing a "Glasgowcentric" narrative just that you are accurately explaining the gestation and importance of the origins of that scene. That aside, I think it's sad to say that we will start to see too many more old warriors from punk past sadly passing away. It's like when you read Mojo or Uncut and see the obits, the decades have moved right up to the 50's and 60's births on musicians passing now, it also seems a tough old life for those on the road constantly to pay the bills. Must take it's toll.

I've not noticed anyone trolling on here. Or not what I call trolling.
All good points too Doug.
I'm keen for this place to be somewhere we can rub along without any argy bargy. We're all different and all bring different perspectives, ideas and angles.
We've all doubtless got locked into a pointless argument here or elsewhere and, really, it's much more pleasant and enjoyable to keep things resepectful and polite.
And yes, a lot of that punk generation are starting to go, as we all will at some point. Amazing really, as it still only seems like yesterday when it all began.

Must take it's toll. To be honest, geographical location and it's importance is only subjective and indeed relevant if you enjoy the music where it comes from. My point is London is no more relevant than New York or Glasgow when it comes to music or indeed anything. I would suggest that people from Glasgow know more about London than vice versa. My problem is that people with a Londoncentric viewpoint have more of a tendency to slag off music from elsewhere when they haven't even heard it. The amount of trolling on threads that I've created over the last 14 years has been staggering. People who've had nothing constructive or relevant to say polluting them with nonsensical tangents which bear no relation to the music or the subject matter being discussed. As for trolling? You see it all the time on here. Look at this Billy character. Never appears until someone he doesn't agree with says something he doesn't like and contributes very little. Maybe you should have a look at the old board in order to get a flavour of how creative people on here have been over the years.

Look how many people just come on threads just to wreck them. I, personally wouldn't contribute to threads if I wasn't interested in them or go out to deliberately wreck them. Zeopold seems like a nice enough guy but he's also one of the biggest culprits when it comes to wrecking other people's threads. Poor, poor moderation if I'm being completely honest.
