Been watching the first couple of series on BritBox. Which would have been filmed 77/78.
Not seen any references to punk. Though at one point someone is seen in a record shop. Didn't recognise any of the displayed album sleeves.
It's a little sad watching this as life was considerably less complicated back then and certainly not as difficult as children's lives are now.
It didn't seem so at the time but we were very lucky to live in such an era.

I was glad to grow up then but easy to over romanticise the past
It was a simpler time but equally there was a lot of darkness too - thinking here of the racism, bullying, violence, homophobia etc. All taken for granted and now unacceptable

Didn't realise it was that old, thought it was the 80's. Don't remember ever having watched it, although I remember the drug storyline being in the news.

Mark Savage the actor who played racist bully Gripper got some real life beatings from people who couldn't distinguish fact from fiction. I remember reading not so long ago that he ended up homeless.
