The great comedy actress Josephine Tewson has died aged 91.
Best known as next door neighbour Liz in Keeping Up Appearances, she also had a long-running part in Last of the Summer Wine and made frequent appearances opposite her friend Ronnie Barker. In addition, she had a wonderful cameo in one of only two genuinely funny episodes of Terry and June, playing an Englishwoman who is fluent in French but speaks it with a terrible Estuary English accent (which in turn may have helped to inspire Officer Crabtree in Allo Allo). She was also briefly married to Leonard Rossiter.
