I woke to the news this morning on the radio. And that was the only news. I imagine they will keep it most of the day
RIP HRH ERII

A few people who would have attended her funeral except for other circumstances: Jimmy Savile Rolf Harris Jeffery Epstein Ghislaine Maxwell
Michael Fagan has not been invited but might still go anyway.

Like it or not it's a big deal for many people
Beats me why, but those that are into it take it very seriously
Hoping things get back to "normal" on Monday - until the funeral and coronation that is

Wallowing in their own self-pity. The level of inane crap being spouted on and by the BBC is astonishing. I get it, but it is still incredible to listen to.

^Not watched one second of it other than a brief glimpse of that gimp Nicholas Witchell nearly pissing his pants.
What a servile cunt. Pathetic.

I come home from a hot shop, all sticky and sweaty and there's no fucking Simpsons on, just hours and hours of 'mourn porn'. A nation of kunts.

I never understood the hostility to the monarchy that Lydon and others had. But I never understood the extreme deference either.
And as others have hinted , some people are making this all about them. For the sake of a society of cohesion and mutual respect I haven't joined in with those who have made this another part of the culture war. Clarkson on Twitter was saying this has reminded him how awful many on the left are. He then posted Johnson's tribute, a man who lied to the Queen and allowed parties while she was mourning her husband.

If Clarkson or Johnson bites it next I’ll bust so hard there will be a hole in the space station!

All English, Welsh and Northern Irish football and professional Scottish football has been postponed this weekend as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II The Athletic has a good article on this which concludes that the football authorities have badly misjudged this given that every where else it’s business as usual A friend reckons it's class based. Bosses supposedly worried about Scousers not playing the role of dutiful serfs and that William asked FA to get football off but not other sports. What do you think? And, as Rogue pointed out, the reception to a minute or two's silence at Celtic Park would most likely have got a hostile reception too

I do think the FA have badly misjudged it though, especially as every football match was called off, even down to kids football. A minutes applause would have probably been observed by the majority in most stadiums. And if not, so what? Are the establishment that scared of a bit of dissent? My local park run had a minutes applause, which kept everyone happy. ( No I didn't join in ). But I get the sentiment - the recognition of a life lived in service, albeit a very priviliged one.

Andrew throwing himself into the public gaze, hoping this is his way back in to public life.
And William should shave his head and grow a beard, either that or go down the Elton John route and wear a hair hat at a very public event.

And, as Rogue pointed out, the reception to a minute or two's silence at Celtic Park would most likely have got a hostile reception too There's no way that there should be a minutes silence for the british queen at Parkhead. She wasn't elected by anyone so why should supporters feel the need to recognise her if they don't want to? If royalists want to mark her passing then let them do it in their own servile environments. The majority of the Celtic support would identify with Republicanism so like wearing poppies it should be an individual choice. From my experience however, I've never met a royalist Celtic fan. Given Celtic's Irish roots they'd be as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit.
