^ He was also in Cyanide before his stint with the Subs. I've got a feeling he also did a bit of work with Chaotic Dischord - if so, that would have been through his connection with Beki.

Cyanide were a York band, Roberts home town. They supported The Subs and though it needs verifying Charlie poached Steve after original drummer Pete Davies departure. Roberts also plays on the majority of tracks on the Exploited's Troops of Tomorrow.

Pete Davies 'departed'after Garratt knocked him out after he threw a drum stick at Garratt at rehearsal.
Roberts and Gibbs auditioned for the Subs separately but roughly at the same time. Because of this Gibbs felt an affinity to Roberts and tried looking out for him but this feeling wasn't always mutual.
Roberts was already a bit of a boozebag but it wasn't just the drink, he took 5 grand out of the Subs account and bought a second hand roller so he could swan about in it like his hero Keith Moon.
His behaviour just seemed to be getting worse and worse and with it he was getting dangerously unpredictable.
Harper and Garratt wanted him out and they brought in John Towe who was an old friend of Gibbs' after that. His name at this point changed to Kim Wylie.
