I'm going to dig out 'Public Image' and 'Metal Box' when I get up the road later as 'Theme' has been going through my head all afternoon...🤔👍

Thanks Stu I really enjoyed that honest and heartfelt tribute Interesting that he said Theme was KL's finest guitar moment along with Poptones

...i watched that and the PiL documentary 'The Public Image Is Rotten' recently.
Good to get Wobble's honest insight on Keith.
Pretty sure Keith is playing keyboards and guitar on this... one of favourite 'late' era PiL songs just as the band were breaking up....

Very un-PiL like innit? Could be a 60s film soundtrack

...i'd say it's very late 70s/early 80s John Carpenter/Morricone influenced, m'self. John and Keith had said they wanted to get into doing film soundtracks, it was offered to the directors of 'Order Of Death' but was declined for some reason, but that title was used for this version of the next PiL album minus Keith... (I think both versions are great as it's such a haunting piece of music, but Keith's version has the edge for me, i prefer the sparceness of the production)

Thanks Andy - yes, now you mention it, strong John Carpenter vibes
And also agree about KL's version having the edge

I didn't know Keith Levene co-wrote this.

Possibly the worst song the Pistols ever wrote and performed.
I've seen it bandied about as an 'anti-war' song.
Load of bollocks if you ask me.
Levene having a Jewish heritage too. What was he thinking?!

Where does it say that RP?
To my knowledge, that song dates back to the Flower Of Romance - i think Sid wrote the lyrics Keith has never been mentioned or credited as co-writing that song before anywhere.

Aye, I always thought that the credits were the ones that appear on the Swindle album but I was reading about Keith Levene and there's a wiki entry that said that he and Sid wrote it. Doubting the veracity of Wiki I found that FOR played it which I find it incredible given Keith's jewish heritage.
Also PIL playing it?
As for writing it. Done a bit of digging and couldn't find anything more accurate so I stopped.
Terrible song anyway regardless.

By all accounts, the line up The Flowers Of Romance changed on a weekly basis. Viv Albertine and Palmolive were in the band briefly, but i don't think they ever got a set together or played a gig.
PiL did play 'Belsen', in their very early days... why... i have no idea ...you'd think Lydon would want to sever any connections to the Pistols and as you say, it wasn't exactly their finest moment.

Other than a wee bit that most punk's would know about FOR from reading about the Pistols, I knew nothing about them.
There's another article in 'The Times' which supposedly has a link with Levene and Sid writing 'Belsen' but you have to subscribe to it.
I can only guess that both Lydon and Levene played it with PIL for the shock value as it's a dreadful song.
