What's the TP verdict on the finale of Happy Valley?
The Guardian says….
After three seasons, Sally Wainwright has concluded one of the greatest trilogies in modern television
I agree, a very satisfying finale to a magnificent series 👏🏼
You?

I was a bit disappointed that the episode focused almost completely on one major storyline and not the other.

Interesting Stu. I thought it was all tied up really neatly. The pharmacists/teacher plotline was always pretty incidental to the main plotline. I liked that they both ended up getting charged.
That the gym teacher turned out to be a paedo as well as an abuser was a good twist which made his (potential) grooming of Ryan even more sinister
Worth the price of admission for the 15 minute scene with Catherine and TLR - two stunning performances - and so cleverly done that I almost had sympathy for Tommy

I thought it was a bit of a damp squib to be honest. It started just getting ridiculous with the escape at the court which was supposed to be the main 'action set piece'.
You knew after that the ending wouldn't result in a punch up.
The finale was a bit predictable too. TLR looking for redemption and not getting it and SL kinda making up with her dopey alkie sister.
For a programme which never really had 'happy endings', I thought it was a bit surprising they went down that route. 🤔
Also, the cheapo special effects when TLR set himself on fire. You'd think that well into the 21st century, the BBC could get it right, but alas no.
That said, for a 'cop'show, worth watching. Irony being is that the cops are more like TLR in reality, not the other way about.
7/10

HAPPY VALLEY SUMMARY - KIERAN HODGESON If you've ever wondered what all the fuss is all about regarding Happy Valley, but can't be bothered to wade through six hours of wall to wall grisly murder, suicide and domestic misery in West Yorkshire, here's a handy overview of the last series...

It was a 6/10 I think.
