Jack Charlton, a World Cup winner with England and former Republic of Ireland boss, has died aged 85.
The former Leeds defender had been diagnosed with lymphoma in the last year and also had dementia.
One of English football's most popular characters, he had spells in charge of Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
He led the Republic of Ireland to their first major finals at Euro 88 and the World Cup quarter-finals at Italia 90.
RIP Jack
Seems to have been around forever

I thought he was already gone to be truthful.
He'll get a toast in the Free State today for his football record but he'll be damned just as equally in other quarters for his hunting and shooting and kow towing with the royals.
I preferred his brother to be honest๐

Yeah, Bobby seemed to have more dignity whereas Jack, despite his ROI successes, came over as a real tweed cap Yorkshire bore. Not many of the 66 brigade left now? Hurst, Stiles, Bobby and Hunt still about I think.

Bobby was a better player too and came across as a real gent.
A truley great footballer. He was also very gracious to the Scottish National team too when he was a co-commentator even when they were pretty pish.
However, the adoration for Jack in the Free State is quite widespread(especially in Dub)

Yes, good players but the chances of England winning anything other than a 30 quid scratch card is nil.

Dunno about that. Got some amazing talent coming through.
Not sure Southgate is the master tactician to make the most of it though.
Would love to see Chris Wilder get the England gig - then we go all the way. Def.

We've been here before. England won't win a major tournament. They aren't good enough. That's true
Everyone said that in 1966

I'm not really bothered about international football and England, for all kinds of reasons which, I think, allows me to be a bit more objective than some
There's clearly a great crop of players coming through. England won the last Under 21 World cup and Under 17 World Cup as you know
There a wealth of attacking talent at the moment too
Are they the complete team? No. Could they beat France, Germany, Spain, Portugal? Definitely.
So, with a bit of luck, it's possible
