...erm, you do realise, before you 'Throw down The Gauntlet' like that Zeo ...Roguey is from Glasgow, don't you? And he can single handedly take on a gang of skinheads and emerge triumphant! Read back and you will notice I am only posting about personal experience in London in the late 70s Roguey was late in joining the movement so he won't know what a war zone it was back in the real days. Going out on the street in your new wave clobber was like carrying a big sign inviting teds, greasers, smoothies, skinheads and every other f***er to kick you senseless. Then morph from punk into eyeliner wearing Bowie boy playing up the androgyny and you can imagine the provocation. Fuck nows what I thought I was playing at
It was like adding flashing neon round the big sign you mention Zeo

Add to that the fact that it wasn't unheard of for more moronic elements of the punk community to give the Blitz types grief back in the day, too.

What movement?🤣 I personally never had any problems being a punk. Mind you a lot of people in the London 'movement' were just fashion victims anyway and bolted for cover once they got slapped by a couple of old teds. Anti fascist activity existed outside of punk incidently and the majority of it was carried out by non punks. Do some research.

Likesay, the aggro had mostly fizzled out by the time you got into it. yah, mostly scruffy old hippy types from the alphabet soup of the far left, but they leapt at the chance of harnessing the dynamism of the new wave to invigorate their brand. No need. I was there.
