How much do you like The Rezillos/Revillos?
One of the best of the early bands who quickly went mainstream
Let's talk Rezillos

Love them though the only time I saw them, it kicked off big time. Nottingham Sandpiper, Coventry City fans (who had come down for the Forest afternoon game) in the audience. Fay and the band only been on twenty minutes, launch into Someone's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight, cue bedlam. Bottles, beer crates, chairs flying back and forward, like an old time Western movie brawl. The band ran off to the safety of the dressing room. Plod turned up and marched us all out into the street, where we all gave false name and addresses. Happy Days.

I bought 'Can't Stand my Baby' on my first record shopping trip to London when I first went new wave* and I was not disappointed. Fay Fife was a great front woman with a distinctive style and the group were tight. They were on a similar tip to the B52's who started around the same time.
* The others were; Slaughter & the Dogs 'Cranked up Really High' Buzzcocks' 'Spiral Scratch' Lurkers - 'Free Admission Single'

They were a big influence on The Subhumans musically and you can hear it in their sound(especially the bass).
That first album is an incredible burst of pop energy. I"ve played it to pals of mine who don't like punk and they love it.
It stands up pretty well today too.

Aye, they talk a funny language over in Fife.
They've not got the patter of Glesga folk.
Dundee people however are a different kettle of fish...

A fantastic band. "Can't Stand The Rezillos" was the soundtrack to me leaving school in 1978, going to Tech College, meeting 'proper' Punk Rockers Just looking at the cover, label and sleeve and playing it loud bring back alot of good memories. Jo Callis really is a great songwriter, no wonder that when the band split up, The Human League enlisted him to write hit singles for them.
The Rezillos 'comeback album Zero from 2015 is tops too, and proved they could write great songs without Jo.

It was the original Peter Green Fleetwood Mac before the Yanks came in. The song is actually under the pseudonym Earl Vince and the Valiants.

Paisley's a wart on Glesga's arse. Most buddies count the salt when they asked for salt and vinegar in the chippy😊 Good punk scene ironically🙄

I really like the band that Jo Callis, Angel Paterson and Simon Templar formed after The Rezillos spit. SHAKE - A shame they never made a full length album. punkygibbon.co.uk/bands/s/shake.html
