That’s a great article Thanks I hadn't realised he was such an obnoxious provocateur, but fair play to him for realising that he was wrong and now feels bad about it

In the 1980's i knew about Big Black as i was friends with local Punks in Bristol who were into them... and that the band included ex-member(s) of Naked Raygun, who i have always liked alot more than Big Black. I remember hearing the album 'Songs About Fucking' and being disappointed by it... their previous release sounded better 'Atomiser' was their only album to occupy my turntable...
They were a band that spawned many an immitator

RIP Died of a heart attack I've merged the news of SA's death into the existing Albini thread Steve Albini, a leading light of indie-rock’s sound and morality as frontman of Big Black and Shellac and recording engineer for Nirvana, PJ Harvey and many other artists, has died at the age 61. The news was confirmed to Variety on Wednesday by Taylor Hales, who works at Albini’s Chicago recording studio, Electronic Audio.
Albini first rose to acclaim in the early 1980s as the frontman for Big Black, the Chicago-based trio known for aggressive guitar-based rock that worked with a drum machine rather than a live drummer, a rarity for the time. Yet he was also well known for his equally aggressive criticism of musicians and others who he felt were in it for money or popularity rather than the music — and he walked it like he talked it. He reviled the term “producer,” even if that’s arguably what he did on many recordings, and insisted on a “Recorded by Steve Albini” credit and declined any “points” — i.e. royalties from the recordings he recorded — which is a common financial bonus for most producers. Rest here.... variety.com/2024/music/people-news/steve-albini-dead-big-black-shellac-nirvana-1235996121/
