Very harsh pen against Denmark. It was fired at the Denmark defender from about two metres away, what position can he take in that time, none other than the position he was in. The handball law seems to change every season, t shirt rule, non alteration of flight of the ball etc etc. Surely, the simple definition should be is it hand moving deliberately towards the ball and not ball to hand. Ergo, is it deemed deliberate. Tonight's prediction. Southgate knows it's knockout and should be going for win in 90 minutes. I would consider extra time and penalties regardless of final result as a failure. 2 - 0 England. Watched a little of the Swiss win, the Italians seemed disinterested.

UEFA of course want the hosts to stay in the competition as long as possible.

Hard to imagine England won't huff and puff again - Southgate is tactically very one dimensional. Can't recall him ever changing tactics mid game to respond to prevailing gamestate.

Ergo, is it deemed deliberate. I'd suggest that the law gets changed to award a direct free-kick for this type of offence, if the authorities are going to persevere with this interpretation. It seems very harsh to award a penalty as a goal has not been prevented by this 'offence'. A penalty should only be given if a foul prevents an almost certain goal. In a similar way, players are now leaving their legs trailing to ensure they are kicked/touched/receive contact, often with no chance of scoring. Change the rules.

Deserved Slovakia lead
England looking better towards the very end of the first half
Typical Southgate performance though - too slow, too predictable

They look like Italy did last night, disjointed and disinterested.

Foden should have stayed onside and scored, easy.
Kane could have had two with a bit of luck.
