Slaughter and the Dogs did some great covers: Quick Joey Small, Who Are The Mystery Girls. White Light White Heat. My fave You're Ready Now, an old Frankie Valli soul stomper.
Siouxsie's Helter Skelter, Dear Prudence and This Wheel's On Fire are all belters as well. Though, Captain Scarlet theme tune is best forgotten.

Waiting for the Man.
Both the UK Subs and TRB versions(the TRB version entitled 'Waiting for My Man')are better than Lou Reed's mournful original.
No one said that old Lou couldn't write a tune but he couldn't sing for toffee.
Check out the Subs and TRB instead.

He was bad to the point of being unlistenable.
No talent as a singer which makes'Transformer' one of the worst albums I've ever heard.

But what about more generally? Is it important to be able to sing?

I don't think Sid Vicious could sing either, but his version of My Way was pretty good

But what about more generally? Is it important to be able to sing? Not 'sing' as such but at least make a good sound. It's all subjective, like all sounds.
