Black Flag did many fine songs and this is just one of them.
What's your favourite?

Give Damaged album a listen if you get time, a hardcore classic. And if that's still not your thing, read Rollins' bio Get In The Van, hilarious, rip roaring tales.

Jello Biafra did alot to help bands like Black Flag get more attention in Europe through Alternative Tenticles.
I bought Damaged in the early 80s, my copy has the sticker on it "As A Parent I Found it An Anti-Parent Record' The era where Dez Cadena was on vocals before Henry Rollins joined the band are my favourite Black Flag recordings...
Best Bass intro ever...

Great track Andy - you're quite right about that bass intro
Thanks PU
So Damaged is the obvious starting point?

I'd say this compilation of the early singles is a good place to start. But "Damaged" and "Everything Turned Black" are great too.

I would say 'Nervous Breakdown' and 'Jealous Again' before 'Damaged'but Henry did really well on it
However, Keith Morris rules supreme as BF's vocalist what a character!👍

...alot less obvious than my choice. 'My War' was the album that polarized and alienated a large percentage of their audience they had at that point. Black Flag would slowly torture the 'Punker Than Thou' punters at their gigs with the slower longer songs from that album

Took me a while to get it Longer songs, with maybe less intensity, but still incendiary

The Rollins episode of the Hanley Brothers podcast Oh Brother was great. I love Rollins' positivity and enthusiasm. Needless to say he loves The Fall and was very curious to chat with ex-members

Latest rocks backpages podcast…..
In this episode we invite SST legend Joe Carducci to join us — all the way from Las Vegas — and talk about his life and career in music from the mid-'70s to the present day.
We hear about Joe's childhood in Illinois, his move to L.A. in 1976 and his first pieces for Eurock and anarchist rag The Match! From there we learn about his forming record distributor Systematic in Portland; his working with Rough Trade US in Berkeley; and his helming of Black Flag's SST label from 1981 to 1986. Following his reminiscences of SST producer Spot and photographer Naomi Peterson, we hear clips from a 1994 audio interview with Henry Rollins — including the former Black Flag frontman's thoughts on his old band and its influence on the recently-deceased Kurt Cobain. Joe also discusses his controversial 1990 book Rock & the Pop Narcotic, as well as the legendary Sing Out!/Circus/Rolling Stone writer Paul Nelson and the vital importance of his Little Sandy Review fanzine (1959-1967).
