I was mad on this group back in the day, they took the punk rock energy in a new and interesting direction

Yup... i am a huge fan of The Pack too. Kirk Brandon reunited with the original bass player John Werner to play Pack songs live. I saw them in Bristol, the winter of 2018. They released a CD/DVD of old songs re-recorded plus footage of a recent gig.

Yes, I liked The Pack, and to varying degrees have enjoyed a lot of what Kirk Brandon went on to do. I've set up a separate thread for Theatre of Hate / Spear of Destiny.... talkpunk.freeforums.net/thread/270/theatre-sprear-destinyOver on that thread I ask you, Zeo, how you feel about Kirk's output post-Pack All are welcome to answer the same question, of course

For me, the original recordings of: King Of Kings, No. 12, St. Teresa, Heathen and Brave New Soldiers cannot be topped... but the Salford Sessions is essential for all the 'lost' songs that never got properly recorded till now.

...well, certainly... the advantage of doing that is you can decide for yourself which versions of some songs that overlap, between the two, you prefer.
"King Of Kings" for example. There are 3 different recordings available. The 'definitive' version of that song for me has always been the full original Rough Trade 7" version, which is track 12 on the Dead Ronin compilation. For some reason, the original Rough Trade 7" version of the song "No. 12" which was the b-side of that Rough Trade single is not available.

Their original guitarist Simon Werner is sadly no longer with us.
His playing had a strong attack.
They also benefited from good drummers, Jim Walker (ex PiL) who played for them when I first saw them and Rab, not sure who was in the group first, Rab probably

Yes, the two Werner brothers from Canada, were the backbone of that band - When the 'reformed' Pack played Bristol i got a chance to have a quick chat with John Werner after their set, just before me and my friends were heading home. I tried not to be too much of a fanboy... but probably failed.

...yes, i think there is a cross over between all 3 of these excellent bands. It was sad to hear that Andy Griffiths of The Wall died this week. Jock, singer from The Straps is someone i have been in contact with for about the last 10 years. The Straps released a really good album in 2013 called Brave New Anger

I got into The Pack, after belatedly buying the wonderful "King of Kings" single, about a year after after it was issued. The b-side "Number 12" was a great punk tune also. Some guy in a record store fobbed me off with a Theatre Of Hate (live) elpee, insisting it was 'really just The Pack under a different name' a bit later, and I was very disappointed when I got it home and played it.. I exchanged the record at a later date, but it still put me off them for life.

Just bagged a ticket for one of the handful of shows the Pack are doing. I've no idea if it's an actual Pack reunion or just Brandon and the people he normally works with doing Pack songs. kirkbrandon.com/shows
