Bowie being jealous of Jayne? Few anecdotes out there that County wanted in on the Iggy, Lou & David circle, never was going to happen. Electric Chairs had some good tunes but it was always the singer's shock value over musical substance.

She's a huge Anglophile which is nice to see, always preferred UK crowds to American ones as far more accepting. She was fun live when I saw her. Not a great rock and roll band but more than a footnote or "novelty". The 3 Electric Chairs albums are all worth a listen.

Any fans around these parts? I imagine we all had a copy of Fuck Off in our collections back in the day The thread was prompted by Cherry Red announcing....
This 57 track 4 CD box set covers just about everything released by seminal American Punk icon Wayne County and his Electric Chairs between 1977-79.
Gotta to say I had no idea Wayne was so prolific
It seems remarkable to me that there's a market for this back catalogue, or am I doing Wayne/Jayne a disservice?
This 57 track 4 CD box set covers just about everything released by seminal American Punk icon Wayne County and his Electric Chairs between 1977-79.
The self-titled debut LP is Disc One and contains the single ‘Eddie & Sheena’. Now comes with ten bonus tracks including the Punk anthem ‘Fuck Off’ as well as three rare monitor mixes from the original album sessions.
Disc Two features the “Storm The Gates Of Heaven” album which contains the ‘Trying To Get On The Radio’ single and now comes with two non LP bonus tracks.
The third disc is 1979’s “Things Your Mother Never Told You” album which contains the ‘Berlin’ single. Three non-LP tracks plus a previously unissued four track John Peel session have been added as bonus tracks.
The final disc is a rare “In Concert” album, recorded on New Year’s Eve 1979, which reached No.18 in the Independent Chart when originally released by Safari Records in early 1980, by which time Wayne had become Jayne County.
The booklet contains in-depth liner notes by Record Collector’s Freek Kinkelaar and features pictures of all relevant record sleeves and lots of clippings from the era.
Did you buy this?

Did you buy this? Not me but I have the first 3 albums. I imagine the live one is well worth a listen. Funnily enough I am just reading Jayne's "Man Enough To Be A Woman" book which I am enjoying a lot.

It's interesting though that Jayne now lives a peaceful retirement back in the deep south surrounded by the same people she rebelled against and admits that she is still a product of her religion and upbringing. She says that they are right wing nuts but if you don't rub things in their faces like she used to they accept her and just ignore the elephant in the room. She paints and studies biblical archaeology and looks after her 19 (not a typo) cats and seems very happy. More power to her. The book is a fantastic read and she has lived a fascinating life (was at Woodstock and part of the Stonewall rights) She's a bit bitter over the record industry and how "Mainman" tied her to a contract and then stopped her career in it's tracks as she thinks they saw her as someone for Bowie to rip off but didn't want her as a rival. Not sure that's true, but Mainman did similar to Iggy I believe. As I say though, would definitely recommend this one.
