According to sky news there are 36 “at risk “areas that could be days away from a local lockdown. And 11,000 job losses announced in the last 24 hours.

Masks compulsory in shops now here but I'm defying the ban as I hate masks because I'm asthmatic.
It's totally ridiculous.👹

I'm surprised that hasn't happened in England
Seems like a simple thing that would make a difference

Population of Scotland: 5.5 million
Covid 19 Cases, 2nd July: 5
Covid 19 Deaths, 2nd July: 1
Chairman Krankie mandates face coverings in shops
Disproportionate, fearmongering nonsense

I agree with Sturgeon's handling of the Pandemic generally but it's a stupid decision.
Seems like a sop to business.
Well, they can fuck off!

All pointing to face masks being mandatory in English shops yet busy pubs and restaurants are exempt. Honestly, if they said the virus only could be transmitted three foot above ground, you'd get some people crawling round on their hands and knees.

It's a lot of rubbish PU.
Doesn't make any sense clinically. It's a sop to business and an attack on our civil liberties
What next? Face masks permanently outside?

Went to the supermarket for the first time today since the ban came in and asked the guy who was supervising the'traffic'of shoppers what the guidelines were for asthmatics and he said it was a matter of choice.
I then asked him if they were mandatory and he said no.
I wasn't the only one that didn't have one on and there were groups of teenagers(not socially distancing as usual)taking theirs on and off at will and nobody batted an eyelid.
A farce.

Face covering mandatory in shops in England from 24 July then - it's official
On Sunday, Michael Gove denied this was the plan. He said it would be better to trust people’s good sense.
Yesterday (Monday) it's announced that masks will be mandatory. They're making it up as they go along. Maybe Gove didn't want to be seen to follow Scotland's lead?
Coming after the mixed messaging on whether more workers should be returning to their offices from spare rooms and kitchen tables, it underlines the sense that few know what is being asked of us

Things that will never happen: 1. World Peace 2. Me phoning the cops 'cos you're not wearing a face mask in my shop.

£100 fine for non-compliance but doubt the cops will be getting involved

Probably done to try and kickstart the economy, hoping people will feel safer if everyone is wearing a mask.Could backfire though as I suspect a lot of people won’t want to be forced in to wearing them.

THIS IS A GOOD ARTICLE on face masks The backlash against the government's announcement that wearing face coverings in shops is to be made mandatory has already begun...mask-wearing makes sense in public spaces for a simple reason: it makes it less likely that those ill with coronavirus will pass it on to other people. It is for that reason that on June 5 the WHO changed its guidance to states, recommending that people wear face masks in all public settings where social distancing could not be maintained.
Wearing a mask is inconvenient – it’s annoying to have foggy glasses and to struggle to make yourself understood on occasion. But it’s also a simple act of altruism that sends a strong signal to anyone who sees you wearing that mask. It tells that person that you care about their health, and are prepared to endure a minor inconvenience for something that could benefit everyone. It’s a simple nuance that residents of Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan didn’t need to be told – and as a consequence have managed to avoid the worst consequences of this devastating virus. It is a lesson that those in the UK who resist compulsory mask wearing would do well to learn, and quickly.

It makes no clinical sense if people can wear them at 1m in a pub where crowding is more acute.
It's all done for 'business' like everything else.
