An excellent read, definitely the best book I read in 2020.
Nigey's review sums it up well as does Stu's comment 'pure gold'.
Dunno what I'm gonna be able to read this year to compare to that!

Just finished it, very enjoyable read. Comes across as a decent bloke and doesn't try and settle any old scores which is nice to see.

Cheers Su, will add to the listening list.
Just read The Luckiest Guy Alive, courtesy of the library. Bed Blocker Blues and The List being stand-out favourites for me.
Preview here...

Word Podcast is worth a listen though I don't think they got as much out of JCC as they maybe could

I thought the first half of this was brilliantly written and like LE states is a vivid and evocative description of working class Salford.
However, the latter half disappoints as it just degenerates into the usual'I'm a junkie-no one understands me-rock star guff'.
Pity, as it's actually a very funny book in places.
9/10-First Half
5/10-Second Half(which was obviously rushed)

As you say, the first half is worth it alone.

The constant quest to score is a well worn tale but I didn't get the self pity you detected rogue. He seemed remarkably matter of fact about his addiction and just seemed to accept it was all part of his chosen lifestyle. Can't think of much worse myself.

I find junkies of any description or wealth extremely tedious which is why I found JCC's second half pretty disappointing. Rock star junkies might think it's worth retelling but it really is the end of the line.
