Even Serpents Shine is a brilliant album. This is the highlight for me. I thought it was a song about Perret's lost love, roaming the dark streets in heartbroken despair, actually it's about his cat.

Another Girl was just perfect, I refused to buy the single as I knew I would play it to death and end up hating it , only single I've ever done that with. Serpents is a very good album too. Memory serves the band were quite a lot older than there contemporaries at the time. Perret of course did an excellent come back album a few years back too, although he has vocal problems now through the drugs and COPD i believe.

Thanks Now keenly anticipated Peter Perrett: The Cleansing review – a late-career triumph that dances in the face of death (Domino)
Despite its themes of decline and mortality, the 72-year-old former Only Ones frontman is full of joie de vivre on this wise and empathetic record
