Don't care what anyone says , their first two albums are mint. Great guitar sound.

Mike Score with his hairspray did more to destroy the ozone layer than all the smoke belching Chinese factories combined. I Ran still brilliant though.

I was put off by the superficial stuff - the singer’s barnet and the Christianity ✝️

First album's been reissued as a 3 disc set with BBC sessions , b sides, live material etc.
I've been hearing what sounds like a 21st century cover version of I Ran lately.

An ironic surname, considering his barnet.

Just reading an interview with Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods... So let's talk about the musical influences then. If you had to pick out some records that help focus the record...
I was listening to A Flock Of Seagulls quite a lot. Yes, particularly, Story Of A Young Heart, and the one before, Listen
I've never listened to them. Too much of a snob
It's really good. People in Liverpool that I know said they were big with a lot of the football lads which is quite interesting. Even at school, some of the football lads were, you know, prepared to dance more to Spandau Ballet at school discos than they did The Jam. Flock did Wishing, classic, just brilliant. I mean, you'll know when you hear it.
A Flock Of Seagulls – Listen [1983] • 1 / 22 GB Keyboard shortcuts 0:18 / 6:07 A Flock Of Seagulls - The Story of A Young Heart

Still not getting it but they have aged better than I 'd have ever imagined .
They may yet win over the floating listener .
Solid picks Stu .

Have to say they almost completely passed me by at the time. I shan't lose any sleep over it.

As i was well into dark apocalyptic Post-Punk at the time they emerged, i rather turned my nose up at them. Their looked seemed too calculated and a bit daft... but then again, i was weened on Glam Rock and loved the wackiness of The Revillos ...so i guess that made me something of a hypocrite. But Jason is right, 'Wishing' is a fantastic pop song ...as are the other singles. IMO
