I agree with Bragg a lot of it is powerful people inciting hate and then acting the victim when people don't take it lying down
But there are people using it to wreck anyone with views they don't approve of

Peter Tatchell was "No platformed" not long ago for siding with "the wrong side" in one of the Bakers/gay wedding cake battles in Ireland. Something has gone very wrong when someone who has fought the fights he has and faced abuse, violence and just about everything for his beliefs gets treated like shit by some privileged bored kids in Uni.
He's a great man and should be shown some damn respect.

We had an interesting debate about the "homophobic bakers" case on the old site, and in a poll we voted by seven to five that they should not have received a criminal conviction for refusing to bake a cake with a political message ("Support gay marriage") with which they disagreed. Had they refused to serve a gay customer per se, we would have felt very differently about the matter.

One of their presenters is Scottish archeologist Neil Oliver. I've read a couple of his books on the ice age formation and the early human settlements of Britain and Europe. Very informative, however his opinions on every other subject are very suspect. Stick to finding bits of flint and ancient middens Neil.
