There's love here for Martha - and why wouldn't there be? I only know their Love Keeps Kicking LP which contains gems like Martha - Heart is Healing
It sounds as though I should be working back through the rest of their discography?

First album, Courting Strong, is chock full of winners from start to finish. Follow up Blisters in the Pit of My Heart requires more plays as there are some lengthy tracks but features Curly and Raquel, one of my faves. I put them on in Scarborough a couple of times a few years back, excellent gigs. I'll try and dig out a live clip of them and post it up here.

10 years of Revolutions Music this November and if this corona fucking thing has gone safely, then we're booking them to play our anniversary party. Feeling 16 again.

Martha via Twitter (7 March 2021)...
I think today is the first anniversary our last gig. Don’t wanna exaggerate given the grand scale of what’s been lost this last year, but not properly being able to play or watch music live has been like living with all the colour drained out of life. A truly miserable existence.

Martha update... We have some BIG NEWS today! In fact, we have so much big news that I’ve taken the liberty of breaking it up into bullet points, though please remember these aren’t necessarily listed in order of importance. 1. We have a NEW ALBUM coming out on the 28th October. It’s called ‘Please Don’t Take Me Back’. We think it’s the best thing we’ve done yet, but we would say that tbf. You can preorder it now from www.martha-punx.com or from your local independent record shop. There’s various different colour versions of vinyl available if that’s your cup of tea, specifically: Cherry Cola (Specialist Subject exclusive): 300, White (Dirtnap exclusive): 300, Green (Rough Trade exclusive): 300, Blue (Indie exclusive): 400, Clear with White Splatter: 1000 2. We have a NEW SINGLE! It’s called ‘Baby, Does Your Heart Sink’. It’s about dancing your worries away at the darkest timeline disco. We made a video for it at Pop Recs in Sunderland, with some help from our friends Michael McKnight (Frankie and the Heartstrings), Mehzeb Chowdhury, Elf Kingdom and Ross Millard (the Futureheads). It’s dedicated to our friend Dave Harper. You can stream it in the usual placed but you can (and, in fairness, should) watch the video here: 3. We’re going on TOUR with bigfatbig this winter! Some are getting low on tickets, but we won’t be able to add any more to this run so please get one as soon as poss if you want to come (cheaper tix available for all shows). Full list of dates and links for tickets can be found at www.martha-punx.com Okay, that’s enough waffle. We hope you like the new song, and that you have long, joyful lives

Please Don't Take Me Back New album arrived today. The YouTube clips above doesnt really do those two songs justice. On a proper system it has far more weight. Overall it's not much different from previous records. 100mph love songs and small town boredom ditties. Bass player Naomi takes lead vocal on my favourite so far, Irreversible Motion, touch of early Kirsty MacColl in there. A real winner.
