A great album but suffering from weak production by Jimmy Pursey.
Angelic Upstarts - Teenage Warning.
Never thought of Pursey as a producer but the title track is powerful enough for me🙂

The Members-At the Chelsea Nightclub. I never thought that they were 2 years late to the party. I would have had that at beginning of 78. I think the Members have always been criminally ignored due to their so called signature song.

I remember listening to, and taping their September 79 BBC In Concert and playing it to death, it had more grunt than the album.

Teenage Warning was one of the first albums I ever bought. I have the first two albums on a double CD with a black and white cover but I suspect it's not an official release as I've never seen a colour CD cover of either of those albums which were on WEA after which they went to EMI.

I have the original album and Teenage Warning on CD(for the motor)which I got second hand over 10 years ago. To be honest, I only bought Upstarts releases sporadically after their live album. However, I always loved Teenage Warning although nothing packs a punch more than their debut single.

It was the year that new styles and sounds bore fruit. Numan, The Cure, Joy Division, even Marianne Faithful's Broken English was from deep left field. And pushing experimentation to its limits was Wire's 154. Everybody needs a song about cartography. Only downside was the title was too difficult for most radio DJs.

Amother big step forward from their first two LPs - which were equally wonderful Many punk artists were making huge strides forward in that febrile 77-80 period

I've lately come to appreciate the odd Supertramp track Is that a serious pick Zeo? Did you love it at the time? Or was it something you discovered later?

Did you love it at the time? Or was it something you discovered later? I wouldn't have given it the time of day when it came out cos I was deep into the new wave but it's a classic album, arguably their best.

Another '79 album that I love...
Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Armed Forces
I also really like the track "[What's So Funny 'Bout] Peace, Love And Understanding" which was only on the U.S. release of the album.
