It's a good question I'm reading it as a friend lent it to me who thought it was worth reading It also opens a window into a world that is alien and could be interesting I'll let you know what I conclude I'm on page 92 of 323 at the moment Even will all that wealth and privilege I feel a bit sorry for him. The most ridiculously fucked up family life you can imagine and a pretty horrific childhood. Needless to say he was completely seduced by the Pistols who inspired him. No doubt he's an entitled dick but he doesn't lack self insight and he's a witty writer too.

I used to be enthralled by tales of hedonism by rock and movie stars, then I began to wonder 'how did they get away with it?'. Any average Joe who did 1% of what they got up to, would be spending time inside.
The fact of the matter is that they created so much wealth for the labels and studios,they had the best lawyers (plus bribery) to get them off their misdemeanours. And if you can get away with it once, the you can up the ante time and time again.
I have nothing but contempt for the apologists and slavish fandom of the likes Keith Moon, Oliver Reed, Zeppelin,Brian Jones etc. I'm sure Sebastian would fall into that category as well, if I could be bothered to investigate further.

Thanks PU. That's all fair comment.
I've read books about all those wrong uns you list and agree. All people who behaved appallingly and, as you say, got away with a lot of bad stuff. I wouldn't bother reading any more books about any of them but at least I have an informed opinion now.
Seb H has yet to do anything on a par with them yet but I suspect it's only a matter of time.
