Morrissey mentioned him in a recent interview and so with the aid of Google I discovered that someone who knew him intimately in his final decades published a biography of him last year. Not far into it but it's already engrossing. There's a lot of mystery about his life, origins, private life and so on , so this was a must purchase for me. www.austinmacauley.com/book/peter-wyngarde-life-amongst-strangers

Looks very intriguing Stu
Looking forward to your further musings
I love a good biog
Here's Peter's bizarre and wonderful "Hippie and The Skinhead" which features on his self-titled 1970 album which starts with PW reading a great letter to the Sunday Times from a skinhead girl before launching into a little ditty about the skinhead and the hippie...
Peter Wyngarde "Hippie and The Skinhead"
I wonder if Miss Jane Skinner & Chris Webb, age 15 of Great Bookham ever heard this?

Real old school thesp, took the craft of acting very seriously .
Lived in Kensington for fifty years until his demise. (Earls Terrace)
Absolutely loving this and not even a third through. Packed with household names.
At one point he's in a relationship with Vivien Leigh who goes out into the street in central London stark naked in the middle of the night only to be confronted with a cop who says 'I'm not arresting Scarlet O Hara' 😀😀

A 70's fashion icon. IIRC his career was scuppered when he was caught cottaging
