I know PU is all over this... Just watched Squid Game, episode 1. Very good indeed. Poverty stricken Koreans enrol in a series of games to pay off their debts. High budget, fantastical sci sets. Not going to binge watch but looking forward to Ep2. Squid game, update. I'm on episode three and it's immensely enjoyable. The juxtaposition of children's games and the brutal violence for failure is jarring. Anyone else?

I've watched episodes one and two and am enjoying it too. Not an original idea but very well executed and the Korean setting adds extra interest.

Squid Game has officially become Netflix's biggest ever series launch. The Korean drama was watched by 111 million users in its first 28 days, knocking Bridgerton (82 million) off the top spot. Netflix counts a view as anyone who's watched two minutes of an episode. It shows the streaming giant's aim to make more international shows has been a huge success. Netflix chief Minyoung Kim told CNN Squid Game "has broken through beyond our wildest dreams"... www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-58895032

I watched it a couple of days after it came out and thought it was pretty good but apparently nobody else in the world has ever seen the original Battle Royale movie so this is an amazing and unique concept to them. I enjoyed it but fuck me am I tired of hearing about it.

Yes, I liked Battle Royale and I liked this as well. I can answer that, it’s on Netflix. That’s that. Netflix drop some original content and promote it through the app that hundreds of millions of people use and then people meme the shit out of it whether it’s good or not (Bird Box & Tiger King).

Battle Royale is the definitive of this genre, The Hunger Games was a sanitised version. Just finished ep6 and when you think they couldn't push the envelope any further.... Similar to the Tartan Asia Extreme films, this doesn't follow the tired Western linear goodies and baddies, the characters are all fallible with inner demons.

I finished Squid Game last night.
As you know it’s a South Korean dystopian-thriller, in which a group of people with crushing debt are forced to play deadly playground games for a chance to win a fortune. Takes a while to get going but the ante is really upped in episode four, and thereafter it's a helluva of a ride. For fans of Tartan Asian Extreme DVDs and Bong Joon-ho's Parasite. Apparently Netflix are investing quite a bit in South Korea's thriving arts scene so expect more gems to emerge soon.
And of course, under no circumstances watch the awful dubbed version. It's got to be Korean language with subtitles.
8/10

Just finished it. Last episode not quite what I expected, which made it even better. Not sure I'd watch another season if it got commissioned, better to leave it at that ending. 8/10 throughout, 10/10 episode 6 and 9
