I vividly remember trudging through the snow to see them at a sparsely populated Nottingham Rock City. Great evening as most gigs were back then but was never taken by their recorded output. Clare Grogan was an alternative actress for the eighties, great in Gregory's Girl then that hilarious turn as Sinead Connor spoof in Father Ted. My favourite tune was this, touch of the Moroder to it.

That's a good un PU I have never heard Bite but might give it a listen on YouTube I'm guessing her voice is not for everyone but I always liked it

Liked them when they first appeared in 1980, in their 'Baby Banshees' era. I saw them supporting the Banshees on the Kaleidoscope tour that year. Steve Severin produced their first two singles, beyond that they became a lightweight pop group which horrified me at the time. Yes, her squeaky/squwarky vocals did rather grate at times.
Peelie was a big fan at first too. He was clearly smitten by Claire and she even got him to sing "Song Sung Blue" with her for a session. This is their first session for him...

Got a copy of Pinky Blue in the other day, the vocals really do grate. There is a musical atrocity end of side one, where our Clare murders Neil Diamond's Song Sung Blue. Maybe some think it's an ironic/kitsch spoof but in reality a waste of vinyl.
