Did a search and couldn't find a thread on this book so I thought I'd start this one. Just began this today and so far it's pretty good. Pretty much straight into the story without a lot of preamble. I remember the author - who was their road manager - from my days of following The Clash as a kid. Whatever you say about the band, they did take care of their fans. At least they did when I was following them (up until about 1980). The book so far is an easy read. Glen Matlock is described along the lines of "a very nice guy. Too nice. Always looked like his hair had just been washed with a mild, conditioning shampoo"

Yeah, a great read amongst the many Clash books out there.
1980 was a cut-off point for me too. LC I could get to grips with but Sandinista wasn't for me. I've revisited in a few times since and drawn the same conclusions.

I found a copy in a charity shop many years ago, brilliant, read it in almost one sitting. Love the Ray Lowry cartoons as well.

One of my favourites. Last time I saw Johnny Green he was accompanying John Cooper Clarke on his tour dates as tour manager. Pretty sure that's what he still does - at least in normal times

Another bit that made me laugh:
Paul Simonon is visiting John Lydon. Lydon points to a huge stack of Guinness and says "Paul, that's what success looks like".

It's years since I read it but I do remember:
Green seeing Bob Dylan disappearing into the night on Oxford Street Being able to smell the dung from a zoo at Rehearsal Rehearsals

Its brilliant - so is his Tour de France book. And a very nice man - I sent him a picture I'd done for fun, did'nt want, ask for or expect a reply...but he sent me the most lovely letter...well beyond the call of duty.
