Anybody who uses Spotify as their sole musical medium, doesn't really love music. I've said this from the very beginning. Most people are not music fans. They are fashion culture fans who like songs. |

I've never had a paid Spotify account but very occasionally use the free service with ads - I'm often suprised by just how much is missing. It's really striking. And that bears out your point incogneato. Fine if you want Taylor Swift etc but not for purists like ourselves |

I mean, I use the free side too if I want to hear a band I haven't heard to determine if I want to buy it. Same way I use YouTube. But when it's THE primary source of one's musical consumption, odds are that's not a music fan. That's for fans of "Oh, I like a little of everything" and "whatever's on the radio" types of folks. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just vastly different from what a Music Fan actually is. |

Book shops and record shops are the only shops I have any interest in visiting Thankfully there's still quite a few in my town Throw in charity shops for the record and book bargains. And garage sales and junk markets |

I had an account which was shared by my family. They whined when I closed it but Spotify is an evil company that rips off musicians. Nearly all record companies have ripped off musicians since the beginning of the music business. What Spotify is doing isn't exactly new. |
