Too depressing to watch. Also it's like the 24 hr news, they just talk round and round in circles for hours saying nothing. we don't know what will happen in these situations and no matter how many talking heads from the "Institute For Nasty weapons and Megalomaniacs" they trot out it will just be a waiting game. i am actively avoiding the ridiculous level of blanket coverage and only watching the news for 10 minutes twice a day. Just a bit too much glee at the repeated ad infinitum showings of tanks being blown up as if there weren't people in them who would probably rather be anywhere else and tearful "how do you feel ?" voxpops from confused and disorientated people fleeing horror. Oh, and a rising again Coronavirus just seems to have gone from being 24/7 news to complete indifference in the war porn rush to arms.

I can't get enough of it whereas the Iraq War just made me horrendously disillusioned. Odd.
Watching and listening to these think tank types you mention is hilarious . The spin they put on nuclear obliteration 'won't be effective for security' etc.

If the news was just the facts and not speculation, the broadcast wouldn't last two minutes. I only listen to the news on the half hour on Radio 5 and 6, over in ninety seconds. All the television commentators out in the field want to be Kate Adie. 'How are you feeling?' They have lost their homes, work and possibly loved ones. How do you think they fucking feel? Ghouls

All the television commentators out in the field want to be Kate Adie. 'How are you feeling?' They have lost their homes, work and possibly loved ones. How do you think they fucking feel? Ghouls Exactly - As with the likes of the inevitable 'Jeremy Kyle Show tragedy,' Television likes to feast on other people's despair and by watching the news i sometimes feel like i am complicit in this. Jeremy Corbyn described it as the 'Media Caravan,' moving from human tragedy to human tragedy, which i think is a very accurate description. But it could be argued that by showing this, it motivates people to do something to help these people. The amount of work done by volunteers to send aid has been astonishing.

And perhaps the numbers of people in the UK offering up rooms to Ukrainians fleeing the conflict is a reaction to seeing the horror and devastation?

The media is spinning the relocation and the opening up of homes as your average UK Joe being benevolent and Boris jumping on this basking in the reflected glory. It's actually the work of the International Red Cross and the British Ukraine Network. There is a big Ukrainian diaspora in the UK, many third generation as they originally fled Stalin's pogroms after the second world war. There has been previous aid convoys and volunteer networks to Yemen, Syria, Iraq etc but these are the wrong colour people who worship another deity, so not much in it for the media circus.

Yep, good points
What's also emerging is that the Home Office has been hellbent on making the bureaucracy as difficult as possible for so long that even people with legitimate claims are finding it a long, frustrating and sometimes impossible process to get through the admin.

I bet that Bo-Jo De Phuckhead can't believe his luck that 'PartyGate' is well and truly in the Media rear view mirror now.

I bet that Bo-Jo De Phuckhead can't believe his luck that 'PartyGate' is well and truly in the Media rear view mirror now. and he shamelessly tweeted about Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe being released when it was him that contributed to her imprisonment .
