I've got some vinyl left over from a once massive collection - but nothing to play it on (well there's a system in my loft)
I've got a lot of CDs
and a lot digital music on my computer
I've never really been a collector, as in having to have a certain edition, or a rare record etc. It's enough to be able to access the music
I don't have a Spotify account, though can use my daughters if necessary
I often use YouTube just to listen to stuff I don't have and which intrigues me
I use a Bluetooth speaker with my computer for all my home based music now
When I'm out and about I have an iPod classic with 160 GB of storage (bit of a collectors item now)
I keep meaning to try and flog my vinyl and CDs but have yet to get round to it, aside from a few bits and pieces on eBay
What about you?

I have a basic turntable which is ok and a large record collection which I started buying in the late 70's through to the late 80's.
I'm no collector either but it's probably worth at least 10 grand if you priced it through Discogs, ebay etc.
Would never sell it though as it means too much to me.
Also have hundreds of CDs and it's not just punk either.
I play both on a regular basis whilst going about my business.
I also rip stuff off the internet for my phone when I'm out walking.
Also got a really powerful wee bluetooth speaker which plugs into my phone so you can listen to virtually anything using You Tube.
Still prefer the records though and I still play tapes!

When i’m at home it’ll be You Tube on my iPhone/laptop or cd’s on the hifi.I’ve got a turntable and occasionally play vinyl. However being a lazy bleeder I cba to get up and change the records.I think modern technology’s made us lazier.I love the sound of vinyl so should really make the effort. When i’m out and about it’s podcasts/downloads on my MP3 player.

I'm a bit of a hifi nerd, got stuff all over the place. Shop plays vinyl and cd through a Project turntable, Sony CD, Audiolab amp and Bowers and Wilkins speakers. At home Linn turntable, Technics amp and Rodgers speakers. Upgraded the cd/bluetooth system in the car, alright when the engine is off but can't hear the benefits whilst driving, wasted my money there.
There's also a full 4000 watt PA in storage. With the pandemic, it won't see the light of the day for ages.

Flipping heck PU - that's some serious kit.
I imagine the home and shop systems sound rather wonderful

If someone is going to spend a ton on a rare Beatles LP, then they want to test it's in good playable condition, so it goes with the territory I suppose. I was going to do second hand hifi in the shop but it all has to be PAT tested by a qualified electrician and the cost of my business insurance would go up considerably.
I've had the home system before my kids were born, there would have been no chance on affording that after they came along. I'm a sucker for these Cash Convertor shops, bought a Cambridge amp some time back, not even tested it out yet.

Used to love the old school record changers where you loaded up a stack of 45’s and they’d drop down and play

Me too. First 10 years of my life that's all we had. All in one mono job. Then, one day, we got a "music centre" - record player and cassette player. Unbelievable.

I remember using a handheld tape recorder to tape off my cousins record player back in 1978 cos we didn't get a record player until later in the year.
'Music Centres'were the biz cos you could literally circulate an album to dozens of other skint schemes like yerself.
It's all too easy now🤬

These days I mostly listen to music through earphones, other than in the car or at my home pc. I still have an old iPod shuffle that works for the gym, with some sweat-proof Sennheiser 'phones. Sound quality not all that great, but recently bought some high-end 'Audio Technica' ear phones that really do make a difference.

I bought a pair of these secondhand 20+ years ago. They're connected to this 15+ years old USB audio interface that plugs into my Mac. Serves my listening and recording needs just fine. I rarely turn the speakers up beyond 4.

Is it 50/50 or more skewed towards listen digitally? I would listen to my earphones during the week and vinyl/CD's at the weekend. However, I don't have much time to listen to music just now.
