Clearer and in someways more coherent but still a decent sound 👌

Dunno if there's ever been a thread on this but after listening to the brilliant Toxic Reasons session, it got me thinking about the others I listened to at the time and later. Any personal favourites? The ones that captured a snapshot of fast evolving groups For example, The Slits and Adam & The Ants Those sessions are important for that reason The Smiths and The Fall obviously too - getting first listens of stuff that had yet to be released There's so many though

Good shout, those 2 sessions from 1978 are particularly good, Peelie used to play them a lot. I remember picking up a bootleg tape at a record fair that had the 78 to 81 sessions on it. Remember when there used to be stall after stall with loads of bootleg tapes all with covers photocopied onto various different colours of paper?

A pal of mine had a stall at the Barras and had hundreds and hundreds of bootlegs. He wasn't a punk but had loads of related stuff including Joy Division, Bunnymen etc. A lot from Glasgow too, mostly Barrowlands. This is going back to the 80's before the likes of King Tuts etc so a fair few from the Apollo too. I also remember people circulating huge lists of live bootlegs during the tape trading era of the early to late 80's. One of whom was Daz Russell, who as we all know came to found the Rebellion Festival. I've never been a fan of bootlegs due to the quality but Dick Lucas used to do quite a few through Bluurg and I bought some off him. The quality was shit hot too as it was recorded through the mixing desk. He sold me one of the Subhuman's (along with D&V and London band Faction)playing in Paris and it's one of the best bootlegs I've ever heard as the Subhumans were at the top of their game musically. This would have been 1983. I tried looking for it on You Tube but to no avail😕

Never heard of that Subhumans Paris recording but will keep an eye out for it.

Tapes were always dodgy, getting chewed up in the tape recorder whereby you'd have to carefully extracate the actual tape and then using a pencil rewind the tape itself back into the cassette.🤨 That Subhumans recording is absolutely sensational. Much better than 'Live in a Dive'. They do an impromptu version of 'Wild Thing' as an encore which is bloody fantastic too🤩

Managed to track down an mp3 of the tape, I'm not sure if it's a first generation copy though, it's all I could find. Have uploaded it to We Transfer here - we.tl/t-jlPQRZm8bb

That's the one👍 Personally, if you are talking about Iive recordings of punk bands that would be in my top ten. Crazy to see the price it's going for these days isn't it? Tapes are popular with the punk millennials it seems.🤪 I remember also that my original copy has the end of an episode from Star Trek which I taped directly off the telly😆
