Watched this the other night so if you're interested in this sort of stuff, don't read as spoilers are included.
Considering the hype connected with this film during Covid I thought I'd give this a go even though I don't really like modern James Bond films.
As usual without giving too much away. Bond is, of course, trying to save the world and shag anything that moves as per type. However, this time he isn't doing it as a MI6 agent as he's retired and is now loosely working for the CIA.
Enter Rami Malik as a bio'terrorist' with a deformed face(haven't we been here before?)who Bond ,with the help of his ex partner and a new '007' has to thwart.
To be honest the actual plot is complete bollocks. A total dogs dinner which tries to merge the present and the past and fails dismally.
Being a product of the new millennium there is now a black female 007 as mentioned previously, who works alongside Bond and Q now cooks romantic dinners for himself and his boyfriend.
Not that I have a problem with this but wasn't Bond a white British mysoginistic hitman for the British government who quite readily gave his Bond girls a 'good slap'for Queen and Country?
The whole plot is a lengthy chore in some ways and you can't help but think decent actors like Rami Malik and Christoph Waltz are just padding as their roles are so miniscule(Waltz is cast as Blofeld!).
However, the ending is a major anti climax with an aged Daniel Craig staggering about doing sub-Bourne fight scenes.
Even the revelation that Bond is now a father wouldn't raise a Roger Moore eyebrow if you're still awake.
Best for last though. It seems the latest gimmick in the Bond story is that they'll be no more Bond films.
A classic case of 'You Only Live Twice'for the Tik Tok generation.
2/10(and that's for some of the cinematography)

I struggled to understand the love for it which has put it in many critics top 5 or 10 ever bond films. Decidedly average although it had one decent early "set piece". Certainly nowhere near the great standard Craig started with in Casino Royal (in my personal top 5 bond films)
5/10

I've ignored all Bond films since View To a Kill. If it's not Moore or Connery I'm not interested.

His performance in Munich was way better than any Bond film. The scripting in modern Bond films is too pretentious and it's not as good as it thinks it is.

I enjoyed No Time To Die, which I thought was a considerable improvement over Spectre, although not quite the equal of Skyfall.
However, it has two underlying problems: it's too long at nearly two-and-three-quarter hours, and its attempt to create a sort of inverted version of the doomed romance of On Her Majesty's Secret Service invites comparisons with that film, which was far superior and is now generally regarded as the all-time peak of the Bond series. The use of musical cues from OHMSS makes clear that it is a homage to the earlier film, but it can't come close to matching it for acting, music, cinematography or editing.
Whereas the romance between George Lazenby's Bond and Diana Rigg's Tracy was captivating, due to both actors' abilities to create complex, multifaceted, flawed characters, Daniel Craig's Bond is too grim and charmless and Léa Seydoux's Madeleine is too passive for their relationship to mean much. Christoph Waltz, as Roguey notes, is wasted as Blofeld, and Telly Savalas from OHMSS demonstrates how it should have been done – his urbane yet thuggish performance comes closest to reflecting the pretentious but imposing criminal mastermind of the books.
On the plus side, at least they didn't make the black female 007 "street", which I was absolutely dreading, and the film is generally very well executed.
However, if anybody wants to see Fleming's version of Bond onscreen, OHMSS is the place to start – Lazenby comes closer to capturing the literary character than anyone except perhaps Timothy Dalton, and the film is almost exactly as per the book, creating a true cinematic classic.

Think they could do with going back to every film being a separate entity rather than a "universe" with ongoing threads.

Good Review Politician. You should do film reviews professionally👍 Time has been kinder to OHMSS than the critics were on it's release. George Lazenby wasn't that bad. It didn't work for him because he wasn't Connery which was unfair. I think the opening scene of OHMSS is pretty iconic. Well shot, paced and directed. To me Daniel Craig just isn't sinister enough as Bond and dare I say it, he's bloody wooden too. I can understand they want to give these movies a more contemporary feel but they should shorten the storyline and also shorten the length( as you suggested) as I was nearly nodding off after an hour and a half. The supporting cast were totally unmemorable too.
