Most of what I know about this world is from watching Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King on Netflix
Not a great advert for the world of cryto
All just seems a massive speculative bubble that will always inevitably burst
Can't see much of an upside unless your either a gambler or trying to launder dodgy money
Is that about right?

I don’t invest in crypto because it’s all just spiderwebs and magic, I first came across it circa 2011-2012 when the price of a Bitcoin was £7 and the only usefulness it has was to send anonymous payments (usually for drugs) or to people who don’t want you to know who they are. Since then it’s became a license to steal from suckers! There’s no regulatory oversight and there’s nothing to stop mega-rich people pushing a currency to inflate a valuation and then selling the liquidity when they feel it’s hit it’s peak. The idea of sending money anonymously was basically the only thing that ever attracted me to crypto, I do wish I’d kept those coins, though! A friend of mine had some change left over from a dodgy online transaction... forgot about it until he read about the surge in value years later, cashed out and used it to front the deposit for his daughter's flat. |
