The Jam could have been huge if Weller hadn't hung Foxton and Buckler out to dry and embarked on a lame ego wank. Totally, shocking behaviour.

What was shocking about it? The fact that Prince Weller disbanded the band and refused to even talk to Rick Butler again much less about the band. You can argue it was his'band' but to treat someone like that shows you where that big tit's head and heart lies. Rick is one of punk's nice guys and he and his family struggled after the Jam. Still his book is a belter of a read👍

He was certainly ruthless
I suppose Rick and Bruce would have been nothing without him and guessing they'd have preferred to have had their golden period with The Jam than not
In terms of success the only way was down for The Jam after number one singles and the stunning success of The Gift both in the UK and US
Weller disliked the idea of continuing for as long as possible simply because The Jam were at the peak of their success.
He later told the Daily Mirror...
"I wanted to end it to see what else I was capable of, and I'm still sure we stopped at the right time. I'm proud of what we did but I didn't want to dilute it, or for us to get embarrassing by trying to go on forever. We finished at our peak. I think we had achieved all we wanted or needed to, both commercially and artistically."
Both Rick & Bruce described the experience as bitter, but in later years both expressed understanding, if not complete acceptance

He knew the other two were reliable good musicians and Foxton was doing a lot more writing. He's just a nasty, arrogant, pretentious self seeker. It's no accident that without Foxton and Buckler his music has been complete rubbish. He certainly wasn't the gift that kept on giving no matter what opinion he has of himself.

I agree he's probably not a very nice person - but then again... perhaps he is? He certainly seems a bit moody and miserable a lot of the time
The quality of his music is in the ear of the listener. I think he's put out some magnificent music since The Jam
The Style Council alone made some superb tunes
And if this doesn't provoke an emotional response I feel sorry for you..
