Space 1999 meets the Age of Aquarius perhaps?

Certainly starts a bit like that but seems to get a bit more mainstream as it goes along. I like it. What about you?
Very different from The Slits Earthbeat

I know Zeo is a massive fan You meant that in an ironic way cos you know I can't stand him If I've said it once, i've said it a thousand times, if Weller is the 'Modfather' then Shakin Stevens is the 'Tedfather'

Very different from The Slits Earthbeat It's certainly different from what I was expecting but like Zeo, I don't rate him much. Also the way he treated Rick Butler when the Jam broke up was truely shocking.

I suspect he's a difficult person and totally ruthless
I admire his desire to do his own thing and on his own terms - often confounding what his audience really want

I don't like him if what I've read is accurate(Walls Come Tumbling Down and Rick's Book).
Most of the music is pretty rubbish too. You'll always get diehard fans who listen and buy any old crap knowing it's not very good.
I'll listen to the Jam and leave it at that.
Sometime, one must be content with one's memories.

Can’t believe this is the same guy that wrote the Jam’s stuff. What happened that he went from writing great songs to writing dirge?Shades of Bowie there or is that just me?

I considered putting Weller into the 'Worthy but shite'thread but he's just 'shite and shite' now.
Hard to believe this is the same guy who wrote'Billy Hunt'.

I think there's still plenty to enjoy in his modern work
Agreed it's not a patch on The Jam or The Style Council though

I liked The Style Council - though their later stuff was a bit iffy
I also liked a lot of the solo stuff
The fisrt solo album and Wildwood are wonderful albums
Even Stanley Road had some good tunes on it

I'm not a Weller fan aside from a few Jam tunes. I was unlucky enough to see him at either V2000 or V2002 and he never uttered a word to the audience. What's that all about then?, why bother to play to people if you're not gonna engage with them? Strange (Town) Man...

The Jam could have been huge if Weller hadn't hung Foxton and Buckler out to dry and embarked on a lame ego wank.

The Jam were already huge
Weller felt constrained by the limitations of the group and wanted a change
Foxton and Buckler were collateral damage
Talented, successful and driven person.... is also ruthless and selfish shocker
