From what I understand it sounds as though the climate emergency has turned Australian poltics on its head
Not before time
Here's hoping it's a key factor in all future elections

Scott Morrison seems a right cockroach. At least he accepted the election result though.

Yeah, they've done well for themselves getting rid of that bell-end. If only we could do the same here...

Good luck getting rid of Bozo, but Scumo had to go. He was getting more arrogant by the day and much disliked within his own party, as well as by the electorate. We'll see how the new crew behave, but they'll have to be better than the mob that's just been kicked out. More Greens and independents in parliament should be a good thing, but it looks like Labor will win enough seats to rule in their own right. An interesting thing from my jurisdiction is that three out of the four representatives we have sent to Canberra are Aboriginal, two Labor and one conservative

Not sure where to place this. Maybe it would be better in the Short Hair RocknRoll thread? Up to you Mr Moderator.
PM Anthony Albanese has just met his NZ counterpart Jacinda Adern. Both are apparently vinyl enthusiasts and have both done stints as DJs. To celebrate their meeting Allbo gave Jacinda a few LPs by classic Australian acts, including Midnight Oil. In return, Jacinda gave him a few Flying Nun LPs and the punk collection AK79!
I liked this quote from Albanese at the time of the meeting, describing his feelings about the official PM's residence in Canberra: "The Lodge is pretty nice I've got to say. It's a better form of public housing than the one I grew up in." I wonder if there is an official analog sound system complete with turntable so he can blast the neighbourhood with some Kiwi punk! I can't imagine Scumo doing that

IIRC their Kojak lookalike singer went into politics, talked a good story on the environment but turned out to be a hypocrite

IIRC their Kojak lookalike singer went into politics, talked a good story on the environment but turned out to be a hypocrite Peter Garrett became a junior minister in a Labor government and was left to carry the can when things went wrong. I don't know if he is a hypocrite but his party loyalty prevented him from being critical of the government he was part of.
He's a singer again now.
Meanwhile, this article about low wages and high profits shows strong similarities with things happening in the UK.

Remote electorates in Australia can have some strange polling places. This one was in Western Australia in 2019
