www.theguardian.com/books/2022/jun/08/the-escape-artist-by-jonathan-freedland-review-the-first-jews-to-escape-auschwitzThis is the incredible true story of a Jewish prisoner in Auschwitz Birkenau who escapes to tell the world what was happening there. Only a quarter through but absolutely compelling. Written by the Guardian writer Jonathan Freedland and published recently. For some reason I've long been fascinated by this awful subject , from childhood and the TV series Holocaust and even "Belsen Was a Gas". Frankly I don't think humanity will ever recover from this completely. The enormity and depravity of it. I feel traumatised and I'm only reading about it. But we cannot ignore it.
