I found this news-clipping photograph stuck inside the cover of my copy of Unknown Pleasures the other night. I think I used to have it stuck on the wall. I'm pretty sure it is from NME

So the big question... Closer? ...or... Unknown Pleasures? You must choose Which is it for you? And why? If Closer had the iconic album art that UP does it would probably be considered the better of the two by most people lol

Does anyone on here book tickets for gigs that are more than a year away? The earliest I ever put tickets out would be six months before the date. Even then so much could happen in the interim. And it's not as if the promoter is making anything on interest of sales, percentage rates are minimal. Any bank interest would be swallowed up by administration costs if the gig was pulled.

Mate I had tickets to see Judas Priest & Ozzy at the Hydro for February 2019 and it’s now been rescheduled to 2022

Not me PU - unless I really wanted to go and I thought it might sell out, but can't think when that has happened

Whoo Hoo! First press Unknown Pleasures and Closer in today (plus original Nick Drake Bryter Later). That's the car tax and insurance paid for the year.

I have the original 'Unknown Pleasures'. I never bought it at the time though but it was given to me by a pal of mine in the mid 80's who was fucking sick of it!
As for 'Bryter Later', much would that go for PU?
Not a record collector but it's such a unique period piece now.

Got to clean Bryter and give it a test play first but about £250. It will take time to sell in my shop so I'll probably move it on to a dealer who does the big Leeds and Manchester record fairs.
Hold your Unknown Pleasures in front of a bright light. If it glows red, it's the rarest of the first presses and goes for more than the standard version.

Wow!👍
My pal bought his copy in 79 and even though I liked Joy Division I only ever had a a couple of tapes of them(and Warsaw) until my china gave me his copy.
It possibly crackles too much but I reckon that helps roughen up Hannets(over)production.
Will dig it out later.🙂
Incredible to think that Bryter Later was released 50 years ago there in March.
I only ever bought the CD as stuff like that was way off my radar until the early 90's.
Nick Drake looks so contemporary even now. Great record👍

If Closer had the iconic album art that UP does it would probably be considered the better of the two by most people lol There should be a law against vacuous Gen-Z'ers wearing T shirts with the UP cover or the Ramones logo on unless they can prove conclusively that they are into the music... backed up by brutal corporal punishment, obvs.

Tried that too but fortunately my dick didn't fall off😎🤣
I think the actual album was bought in 79 but my pal gave it to me in 85 as he was literally sick of listening to it.
He probably regrets it now though.
To ge honest, back then it wasn't the most played record in my collection as I always prefered Warsaw.
Mind you in 84/85, I probably listened to the likes of Beefeater and all the Dischord label stuff more but that says more of where I was at then.
UP was always a great record but no way does it deserve its mythical status.
