What are your thoughts and feelings about Joy Division?
Do you still listen to them?
Favourite tunes?
Favourite albums?

I could never get on with a full album, just a tad too bleak for me. Love individual tracks though: Transmission Atmosphere She's Lost Contol
and Love Will Tear Us Apart is the Beatles Yesterday for the Thatcher generation.

Yes still do but Closer degenerated into 3rd rate Goth music.
I like their sound but other than Stephen Morris the band sounded like complete bellends.
Warsaw and 'Unknown Pleasures'were their high points.

The others should have STFU when Curtis passed away.

Unknown Pleasures is a great piece of work, as are the singles. At the time they were a slow burn, even though they were the first band I ever saw live (supporting Buzzcocks). I don't rate Closer, it's a thing apart.
Did anyone see the auction last year of Peter Hook's memorabilia? Looks like he'd hoarded stuff since day one of Warsaw.

Surprise that there's not more love for Closer
I prefer it to Unknown Pleasures these days - not much in it though, as I love both albums
Atmosphere is sublime

Not really, I'm not that interested in collecting memorabilia, I just found it fascinating that he'd amassed so much, it's like he never threw anything away - ever.

The others should have STFU when Curtis passed away. Yes after Costello and Weller they must also fall into 'Biggest imposters'ever category. Tuneless and self indulgent. Pretty In Pink was their level!!

Atrocity Exhibition is possibly one of the worst songs they ever did. What were they thinking of?! Has Hook taken to the drugs again?

I find it a bit corny to be honest. They did a lot better. Ironically 'Heart and Soul' is but one of them.

Incidently, I dug out 'Closer' earlier and had another listen. When I've got more time I might give a synopsis of the songs
Also, so much for the 'genuis' of Martin Hannet! Some of the tracks have a drum sound that sounds more like cardboard boxes.

...you’ve seen Joy Division, that’s insane! I should imagine I'm not the only one here, they played plenty of gigs Mine were in quick succession - YMCA and The Nashville - in 1979 if I remember right Both in London where I was living

First 'proper gig' for me was Joy Division & Buzzcocks Colston Hall Bristol Nov 4th 1979 Blog on this gig here... www.joydiv.org/c041179.htm
