I just provided a possible answer to your question
FWIW Gerry Adams interviewing Shane does not put me off this documentary

And I was just providing an alternative point of view to the other poster's general disclaimer.
I'm glad it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of it๐
I personally think it adds to it.

Some good lyrics on this one and a passable vocal performance by MacGowan for once on a Popes record.

Why would Gerry Adams interviewing another Irishman be a problem? Sorry, only just seen your post. Some people find him a repugnant character due to his past support of and possible involvement in terrorist activities. He and Shane are supporters of the republican cause and so was just saying that if people prefer their music without the political stuff they may want to give it a swerve. Wasn't meant to be a contentious remark.

Have you got proof of the alleged terrorist activities?
Obviously, Shane MacGowan has no problem with him.
I find the activities of the British Army repugnant as do a lot of people in Ireland.
A lot of people would see Adam's as the principal architect of the peace process and the political resurgence of Sinn Fein so people who 'hate' him would be better served looking closer to home when it comes to terrorist atrocities.
I.e. Bloody Sunday, the Ballymurphy massacre etc

I.e. Bloody Sunday, the Ballymurphy massacre etc If there were proof they wouldn't be alleged. Just put the line in as I know some people have very little time for those involved with the IRA. I was nearly caught up in two bombings myself when working at Marble Arch (the Hyde Park bomb and the Wimpy one) So have little time for those involved. No intention of getting involved in political discussions, just put the line in as I say, due to some finding the man rather a cunt. And yes, the British army have involved themselves in repugnant acts in Ireland as you say.

The point is that in order to call someone a terrorist, they have to be convicted of terrorist offences and as far as I can see Adam's hasn't been convicted of any.
As far as I'm concerned heresay doesn't lead to a conviction.Because you don't like his politics, it doesn't make him a murderer.
From my experience, people who've never spent a reasonable amount of time in Ireland to understand what went on there should be the last people to call anyone cunts.
They should look in the mirror first.
Considering the collusion between between loyalists and the British Army they're the last people to morally wring their hands.
Again, as a person who has been going to Ireland since I was a child my experiences are different.
However, this thread isn't about Gerry Adam's but I'm pleased he's contributed to Shane's doc.

Lots of people know or have known IRA people. As a former leader of Sinn Fein he would know lots of people who were in the IRA. The organisation doesn't exist anymore. Doesn't make Adam's a 'terrorist'? If it does, what does that make Shane MacGowan?
