I might watch it again I reckon this one could work too The Johnny Cash one was splendid Also the Jerry Lee one way back worked well

Haven't seen it in decades but seem to recall Kurt Russel did a decent job.

'King Creole' showed his potential. His best film, by a country mile

Saw the movie on the weekend. I really liked it. It is a movie and not a documentary, but very well done. The sets mainly look authentic. The scenes showing Elvis hanging out at Club Handy in Beale Street are probably anachronistic, as I doubt he was so fully accepted there, but what do i know? Clearly, everything is not supposed to be taken literally. Meanwhile, the portrayal of other major players is also good. The feller who plays Little Richard is brilliant.

Austin Butler (no, me neither) gives a great performance as Elvis in this glossy pantomime of Presley's life, narrated by Tom Hanks giving a fine performance as the manipulative and controlling Col. Tom Parker. Works best in the films first act which is far too short for me before Presley goes into the army and is neutered into lousy films and family shlock Vegas performances.
A kind of Elvis for beginners, which doubles down on the accepted if naive narrative of Parker as "Evil" and Presley as wide eyed innocent in a golden cage and avoids and pretty much ignores the messy reality of his food and drugs descent into a fat slurring embarrassment stumbling around Casino stages until his depressing end.
Don't know Baz Luhrmann's work but believe it's supposed to be very gaudy and if so then this is no exception, definitely worth seeing if you just sit back and accept the fairy tale and Butler's performances and vocal impression of Presley, the highlights being the "Hayride" and the '68 "comeback special".
