Few artists can claim to be as different as Syd

Floyd didn't miss him.
Floyd only became good when Barrett'left' and Gilmour became a major force within the band.
I found most of his tedious.

Syd was great - both solo and with Pink Floyd
Always loved...
A Syd comp is an essential ingredient for any record collection
Dave Gilmour said it was frightening how good he was at writing songs and how the lyrics just poured out of him

The proper Pink Floyd after Barrett jettisoned that style pretty sharply so it showed you what they really thought of it.
Mental health problems aside he was a bully, womaniser and woman batterer.
Not a very good role model.

The proper Pink Floyd after Barrett jettisoned that style pretty sharply so it showed you what they really thought of it I dunno about "proper" but it was Syd's group until he couldn't continue and it left a vacuum Certainly agree the only thing the two incarnations have in common is the name The ones that were left made a virtue out of not having their primary songwriter anymore I'm not too keen on post-Syd Floyd try as I might to get into them. There's the odd song I like though (Great Gig In The Sky, Shine On You Crazy Diamond) but most of it just washes over me The Syd stuff, whilst more whimsical and psychedelic feels far more visceral and, a lot of it, works on a dancefloor too. If it moves me, it moves me, if you see what I mean This still gets the cats down the indie disco moving and a grooving... Pink Floyd - Lucifer Sam
Turn it up and frug along

Woman beater? Where did you learn that? According to a couple of books I read but can't remember names. Will post them later when I get home.

Thanks. Never seen that allegation (though only have a passing knowledge about him). Certainly at odds with his image.

I always found his drug consumption the most fascinating thing about him to be honest.
He was on at least 3 or 4 heavy duty acid tabs a day.
That must have made for some interesting housework😀
