Interesting Campaigner Charlotte Gage says that the outdoor adverts you see on billboards and bus stops should all be removed.
"These ads are in the public space without any consultation about what is shown on them," she says. "Plus they cause light pollution, and the ads are for things people can't afford, or don't need."
Ms Gage is the network director of UK pressure group Adfree Cities, which wants a complete ban on all outdoor corporate advertising. This would also apply to the sides of buses, and on the London Underground and other rail and metro systems.

There is certainly an argument to be made that the proliferation of billboards should be carefully controlled, as nobody wants Britain's cities turning into what looks like a set from Blade Runner or Futurama. In particular, advertising hoardings should be – and are – very carefully controlled in heritage areas in order to create an authentic and sympathetic streetscape.
But that isn't the underlying argument that most of these "campaigners" believe in.
They're usually deeply convinced that their fellow citizens are gullible dimwits who are easily taken in by the marketing of snake oil whilst they themselves are so sophisticated that they can see through advertisers' trickery. They usually also dislike the concept that consumerism and advertising give people choice: as Roguey points out, their attitude is essentially communistic as they reckon the proles should be happy with one brand of cereal, one type of toothpaste or whatever else their betters (i.e. people like campaigner Charlotte Gage) consider appropriate for them.

What a hysterical overeaction😄 It would take more than the banning of advertising hoardings for people to change their ways. Besides, where do you draw the line.?Alcohol and smoking related products are already banned and often by hard right wing governments such as the one you currently support. There's lots of different factors as to why people buy what they do and thanks to the actions of your buddies who are making a Jeremy Hunt of everything, it's usually the cheaper option.

I doubt she's a socialist but the brutal truth is that in a capitalist consumerist society some people are too dense to figure out the power of advertising which is the point surely? Tha accumulation of profit at any cost. People buying shite that they don't need and/or is of no use to them. A bit like the latest Idles album for example.

I’d love to see advertising banned in public spaces. It’s an unwelcome intrusion and I resent having to think about stupid brands whilst out and about
