Sax solos π·
Do you like em?
Yay or nay?
What are your faves?
Any you hate?
Where do you stand on Baker Street?
Hazel OβConnorβs Will You?
Should the new wave have seen an end to em?
Great punky tunes with a saxophone?
Great punk sax players?
Laura Logic? Davey Payne?

A sax solo combined with a drum solo is a special treat, as in this example featuring career-defining performances by Wayne Shorter and Steve Gadd > 4:40

To my ear the best sax players of the new wave were Duncan Kilburn (Furs) and Steve Heart (Neon Hearts)

How about the time when he appeared to do a solo with two saxophones on Hit Me With Your Rhymthm Stick This vid starts at exactly the right spot though DP really gets to work at the two minute mark when it's just him and Charley Charles....

Who was the sax man on Suburban Studs Questions? A preferable version than the guitar version.
I was only a few rows back from Springsteen and the E Street band at the Rotterdam stadium 1986. Big Clarence Clemons could really blow that thing.

The first name I attached to playing the sax was Gary Barnacle through his work with The Ruts ( DC ).

Who was the sax man on Suburban Studs Questions? Steve Heart, later of Neon Hearts. Booted out of the Studs cos they thought sax wasn't a 'punk' instrument IIRC

I think I've seen Davey Payne and possibly his replacement do the two sax thing. I'll check my gig photo's when I get back online. I've always loved the Blockheads.
I like the sax solo in 20,000 Rezillos Under The Sea, though some might find it annoying.
Later peeps.
