Has anyone watched this?
A skint couple inherit a country house after looking at some expensive shoebox flats in London and decide to move there even though it's dilapidated.
The thing is there's already at least a dozen ghosts living there from various era's including a witch who was burnt at the stake, a pervert Tory MP( token social commentary), a Lord Byron type poet and a scoutmaster.
Sounds good for a bit of throwaway entertainment on a cold and dark night eh?
It isn't. This is supposed to be a comedy but I've had more laughs watching a game of cricket.
It's all very twee and middle class. Like a comedy 'farce' or a West End play. Who likes this rubbish?
Also, who writes this and thinks it's funny?
Myself and Mrs RP didn't even raise a smile let alone a begrudged giggle during the two episodes that we watched.
Think 'Still Open All Hours' or 'The Good Life' on the Laughometer.
Or better still watch the weans show 'Rentaghost' on You Tube, it's funnier.
Terrible. 1/10(for the original premise)

Yes I like it It's by the team who made Horrible Histories (Mat Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond) which is a kid's TV show I used to watch it with my kids when they were growing up so have a lot of affection for the team, most also appear in Ghosts. They also did three series of fantasy sitcom Yonderland, feature film Bill, in addition to this one Ghosts is also aimed at a young audience and whilst not an out and out comedy I think it's amusing. It's very character driven so perhaps not for everyone? When you get to know each ghost better they become much more endearing and there are also moments of real pathos It took me three or four episodes to get into it but after that I was addicted. A bit like the wonderful Stath Lets Flats on Channel Four (which also features Kiell Smith-Bynoe who plays the husband in Ghosts and who I really like) The fourth series just arrived on BBC iPlayer, plus there's an American version in production, so it's doing something right Maybe you just need to give it a few more episodes? Dunno. We can't like everything I suppose ![](https://www.denofgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Ghosts-series-2-poster.jpg?resize=768%2C432)

Mrs Roguepunk -who is less of a cynic than me-said we should watch a couple of more episodes then if it's still not funny we should bin it.
'Amusing' doesn't really fit in with my sense of humour I'm afraid. The problem is that any programme that has 5 or 6 creators is always doomed. I prefer one writer or a double act at most.
I know it's written for a younger audience but it's still aimed at an adult audience too.
It just lacks a bit of bite and some serious laughs and perhaps that's down to the ghosts themselves, some of whom are embarrassingly bad ie, the scoutmaster and annoyingly the girl who wants to be liked.
Even the Caveman who could have been the black sheep of the ensemble was as funny as a dose of the skitters.
It's a bit all over the place I'm afraid. Part Truely Madly Deeply, part The Ghosts of Motely Hall.
I needed a laugh but I never got it.
At least Rentaghost had a pantomime horse in it.😄

Been watching and enjoying this since the first series.
Watched the current series twice already and look forward to the xmas special.
The ghosts are a strange lot but mostly they are an endearing lot, if not annoying at times.
Lol Rogue, I remember Rentaghost - Mumford, Claypole and Davenport!
