^^ Dumbed down stadium rock aimed at the US market.
A smart commercial move, but the end of the band as a creative force.

Love and Dreamtime are wonderful For me it was Electric where the rot set in I quite like some of the stadium-filling, hard rocking, latter day Cult but Dreamtime and Love are both essential LPs full of wonderful tunes

Hugely popular band amongst me and my mates, starting with Southern Death Cult, then Death Cult; and the fact that it was recorded in our home town at the time - Jacob's Studios in Farnham, ( although I was at Bristol Poly at this point ) made it an even better album to us. I do remember the excitement of hearing the band were in town and could be spotted in the local pubs.
'She Sells Sanctuary' for me.

Currently enjoying a big fat Cult revival at this end of the line
I'd never appreciated just how great Electric is
Since it's release I'd dismissed it as opportunistic hard rock designed to pander to American listeners
And, yes, my assessment is probably on the money BUT that doesn't stop it being brilliant too and part of a logical progression from Dreamtime, thru Love and to Electric
I've had a quick scoot through Beyond Good and Evil (2001) and it sounds quite promising
Are there any other albums post Electric that deserve a thorough listen?

Last year's Under The Midnight Sun is a good solid album, though barely thirty minutes long.Tracks such as Vendetta X, Mirrors and the album title rub shoulders with their Electric, Love and Sonic Temple days. Saw them a fortnight ago and they still have a lot to offer.

Annoyingly no Brighton date, might have to go to Brixton.... The return of Death CultThe crucial band put together by Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury between Southern Death Cult and The Cult (as documented in detail in John Robb’s ‘the Art Of Darkness – the History Of Goth) have announced a 12 date UK tour with many venues where they made their live debut as a band. And there is more! Not just songs from Death Cult but songs from Southern Death Cult, to Death Cult, and The Cult’s first two albums: Dreamtime (1984) and Love (1985). Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy also announce one US date at The Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on October 23. Tickets for all dates are on-sale Friday 18 Aug 2023 at 10 am local time. Check for local pre-sale options. Southern Death Cult formed in 1981, releasing their sole, self-titled album posthumously in 1983. That same year, Death Cult formed, with Ian Astbury joining forces with Duffy for a musical partnership that has endured for 40-plus years. The band released two 12-inches that same year, one being the Death Cult EP, which were subsequently combined and released as a CD. Death Cult is a vital transmission from the generation of Shamanic post-punk gothic futurists. Death Cult became The Cult in 1984. Releasing Dreamtime that same year and going on to experience a career that has seen the release of 11 full-length albums, as well as numerous international and U.S. gold and platinum certifications. Death Cult 2023 Tour runs 6th – 21st November

Not just songs from Death Cult but songs from Southern Death Cult Hard to accept. Duffy is good, but not as good as Buzz.
