Anyone remember these 80s could-beens?
What's yer verdict?
One of their tunes - Why Why Why - became an early Balearic anthem

Play tested their debut album Giant the other day before it went in the racks, must say I found it incredibly bland and it did nothing for me.

Blimey, The Woodentops were a band i got into in my 20s when i got a full time job, and left home for good and moved to Bristol living in a shared house. At that time i was listening to all kinds of music: Punk, Post-Punk, Hardcore, Psychedelia, 60s Garage, Rockabilly and beyond.
A friend lent me a mix tape that included some songs by The Woodentops... this classic on that tape made me go checkout more by them...

Gotta say Move Me is the one that has grabbed me the most after giving them a bit of a retro listen over the last few days
What are your other faves Andy?

...all the early stuff is great. This thread made me go and dig out what i have. The energy levels on the Live Hypno Beat album is astonishing... bland they were not! This effing SMOKES!!

...it's a record that positively FIZZES with energy. One the best live records i own... they truly 'tear it up' and listening to it again made me realise that there's quite Rockabilly flavour to some of their tunes.

That's quite The Woodentops collection you have there Andy
How many albums and singles do you own? Any idea?

...what you see there, is all i have. The first two studio albums on cassette, the live album, two 7" singles, one 12" e.p. and the U.S. mini album singles comp with green cover. (Well Well Well) I'd like to think that covers the best of their recordings, but there are no doubt some gems i have missed.
